In recent years the way consumers listen to music has changed drastically. For the most part new music is now streamed on platforms like Spotify, YouTube Music and Apple music through subscription-based memberships where you pay for access to the music versus actually owning the music yourself and accessing it at will anytime. Though convenient, as a life-long music enthusiast I've always felt like this form of media lacks from the experience of owning physical copies of music. Just leaving the house to go to the music store and surf through selves of cassette tapes and CD's was an experience all in itself. We would spend hours in the store even if was just to buy a recently released album and when we got in the car or got home it all unfolded from there.

After ripping the plastic of and powering up the music player of choice, the experience continued from there. The music is playing and now you're vibing to new music you never heard before while looking through the pages of the album cover that came within the packaging that contained track-list, personal shout-outs from the artist, artwork & exclusive pictures. Some even went as far as to tell you who produced by music, who played what particular instrument and where the music was recorded.

Universal Music Group has partnered with The Sound of Vinyl in seems to be an attempt to bring that experience back to the music lovers of the world with exclusive physical media releases of classic albums from artist like Bob Marley, Dexter Gordon, New Edition, Kanye West and many more in the Vinyl LP format (Records). Vinyl had a warm and rich sound that is unmatched to this day and now we have the opportunity to enjoy that experience again.

Vinyl records are steeped in history and have been loved for decades and decades by audiophiles everywhere. When you finally decide to hop on the record collecting train, it’s an exhilarating experience. The first time you hold a big, beautiful physical copy of one of your favorite albums, it all makes sense.
